Stress
Acupuncture immediately affects the nervous system by switching it into a parasympathetic dominant response which is the part of the nervous system that produces a relaxed, peaceful state. Most people experience a very deep sleep while acupuncture needles are retained and after a few sessions this state change becomes a learned response in the body. This usually translates to a greater capacity to deal with stress. I like to think of it like this: we are all containers, when our bowl is overflowing with the stress of our life, one could call that state “overwhelmed”. Acupuncture gives you a bigger container.
