Cold/Flu
When caught quickly enough, acupuncture and herbs can clear out an oncoming cold. However, mostly I see people after the cold has moved deeper into the body affecting the nose, throat, and lungs. Chinese medicine can consistently reduce the severity of the symptoms and shorten the duration of the illness.
Often my clients are very fatigued following a cold and this is where acupuncture can provide a nice lift to get energy levels back to normal.
Chinese herbal medicine is key in treating colds and flu. The formulas are usually comprised of very potent anti-viral and anti-microbial herbs, but the key to the formula working well is in determining the location and nature of the pathogen. Sometimes lung phlegm retention is the big problem so that requires a specific formula, whereas other times a sore throat is predominant and will necessitate a completely different herbal script.
