Dermatological Problems

chinese-herbs4Skin problems that can be managed by acupuncture and herbs include rashes, hives, acne, psoriasis, eczema, and cracking.  Acupuncture diagnosis usually leads to a heat pathology affecting the stomach and large intestine channels.  While this is not always the case, I find it to be so for 80-90% of my clients with these types of skin disorders.  The treatment usually involves using several master Tung points to address the skin and clear heat out of the body.  Herbal treatment typically involves administering cold-natured herbs that drain heat and clear the liver.  As with all things, there can be deeper causes that need to be explored such as inflammation in the gut.  With many clients who are not responding to traditional methods I will recommend fasting as a way of resetting the body to stop the constant inflammatory cascade.
